Science Club

This is a new club which is run on Wednesdays after school by
Mrs Fletcher from 3.20 to 4.30 We will bring you photos to
show what we are up to in our "laboratory"

Lava Lamps and Washing up Liquid

Our focus for Science club this week was 'colour'.
We made our own colourful lava lamps using household
ingredients and can explain how they work due to
the difference in density of the two liquids we
used. We also created beautiful patterns of
colour using milk, food colouring and washing
up liquid. The washing up liquid changed the
surface tension of the milk molecules, which
created the patterns. Finally we identified
the different colours in the sugar coating of
skittles using a method called chromatography.
