Remembrance Day Service

A special service of remembrance, for the 148 men from the Parish of St Leonards, who gave their lives during the First World War, was held in school today. Each child brought forward their own hand made poppies and planted them around a central wreath outside on the grass hillside.

While each child came forward to place their poppy, Nieve and Finlay, from Year 6, slowly read the names of the 148 men. Included in this list of names was Finlay's Great Grandfather, Thomas J Holmes. After we had planted our poppies of Remembrance, Mrs Clarke played the last post and we observed two minutes silence.
